Fault Code: RCD / GFCI

RCD Fault Diagnosis

Investigating residual current leakage and AC circuit integrity to ensure hardware safety.

Introduction

A Residual Current Device (RCD) fault occurs when the system detects an imbalance between the supply and return currents, indicating that electricity is leaking to the ground.

This is a critical safety feature of the SunHopper®-D, designed to prevent electric shock and equipment damage. The fault must be cleared manually after the underlying issue is resolved.

Troubleshooting Steps

Circuit Integrity

1 Check for moisture in AC junction boxes.
2 Inspect AC cable insulation for damage.
3 Verify ground connections are tight.
4 Ensure the heater element is not grounded.

Leakage Sources

1 Identify if the fault occurs during rain.
2 Test the heating element for insulation resistance.
3 Look for signs of corrosion in electrical terminals.
